DR. RAJAN’S JOURNEY AS A MEDICO – SOCIAL PERSONALITY

NEO NATAL CARE :

NEW BORN LIVES THROUGH : Efforts to bring down NMR 

  •  He saved an 800 gram newborn baby without any gadgets way back in 1981.
  •  He set up a level II NICU, in a 100 year old District hospital in Dharwad.
  •  Conducted workshops and training session for paramedics in techniques of Bag and mask as well as care after birth.
  • Presently has adopted 58 villages in Dharwad district to bring down Neonatal Mortality Rate and Infant Mortality Rate, with the help of Deshpande Foundation.
  • Total beneficiaries through his initiatives have crossed a staggering 30,000 neonates who could live through.

SMALL FAMILY NORM AND TAKING CARE OF LIVING CHILDREN :

  • Worked in association with FPAI and volunteers in bringing harmony with villagers and helped in implementation of programs.
  • Worked incessantly for the growth and development of family planning practices, for more than two and half decades.
  • He served as a president of FPAI from 2013-2015. He visited various villages to create awareness on small family norms & child care.
  • The dream of Dr. Rajan to have a nice hospital building with a modular operation theatre came in to reality due to his persistent efforts. Presently, more than 3000 sterilization operations are performed and around 100 women walk in for check-ups every day

INTERNATIONAL COLLABORATIONS :

LEASE OF LIFE TO CHILDREN WITH CONGENITAL HEART DISEASE.

          He was the one to bring “Gift of Life Inc” Project of New York, USA to India in 2002 which helps in free of cost, open cardiac surgeries for children below 12 years suffering from congenital heart diseases.

          It has reached all parts of India and more than 25,000 children have benefitted. Directly under his supervision more than 700 poor children from 3 southern states were operated successfully in KLE Hospital, Belgaum.

SERVICE TO THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED:

  • He has served the differently abled children by conducting specialist camps, rehabilitation programs, as well as corrective surgeries for numerous children with assistance from Rotary International and All India Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Mumbai, a Central Government Institute. More than 650 Polio corrective surgeries were conducted.
  • Cerebral Palsy camps are regularly held for the last 15 years in his hospital and more than 7,500 children are benefitted.
  • Rehabilitation center “Soumanasya” for mentally challenged was started in Dharwad Institute of Mental Sciences, by him and his friends through an NGO. This has helped the mentally challenged to earn their livelihood.
  • Till date, more than 5,000 inmates are living a life with dignity that otherwise were not accepted by their families.

YOUTH SERVICES:

  • He has organized new generation conferences, youth leadership camps & seminars for the youth which addressed various issues like AIDS awareness, substance abuse, nutrition, health, hygiene, suicides in children, sex education, career guidance, facing examinations and values in life. More than 200 such activities have been conducted for the last 10 years and vast number of students were greatly benefitted.
  • Various youth counseling centers have been opened to address the problems of the youth. He addressed various health issues including adolescent problems through these centers.
